Over 80% of percentage of the population are involved in agricultural production
 
Kava is currently the biggest domestic export commodity for Vanuatu (66% of domestic
export in Q3 2023, estimated to reach 4 Billion vatu for 2023 (VCCI report) Q3 2023)
 
Food security increasingly important with natural disasters, Climate Change and increasing
cost of living (The impact of the twin cyclones Kevin and Judy on the productive sector was
valued at 113.2 billion Vatu (TC Kevin and TC Judy PDNA report 2023))
 
Terms of Trade – Cost of Food Imports are high ( Food and live animal products 16.4% of
total imports for home consumption in 2023; over 1 Billion vatu of rice (VNSO Q3 QSI
2023))

land and rich marine and forest resources which will sustainably supply the food and
kastom needs of a growing population
 
in both urban and rural areas by building on
traditional practices and protecting our natural environment.
This will be achieved through a substantial increase in primary production, processing
and value-adding there will be good jobs and income ensuring social and gender equity
and wellbeing for all.
