The Road to Leadership and Being the Best You Can Be
You can apply this to your personal life and to your involvement in CFDD and other organizations. Life lessons to instill in our children as well.
The best way to start is to evaluate where you are at this moment in time. Acknowledge all that you have accomplished and make plans on achieving the remainder of your goals. Look at both the good and the bad, be grateful for all, because you have learned from your mistakes. You cannot change what you have not admitted to. Establish your base line and figure out what your dreams are, what your goals are, and what your wishes are for yourself, your family and your professional development.
Start by taking baby steps to reach them. Reach out to someone that you admire and would like to emulate. Enlist them as a mentor, coach or support team. When you have a misstep learn from it and keep moving forward. Accept that this is journey and not a race. Remind yourself of all that you have and all that you learned and keep challenging yourself to the positive outcome that you desire. Seek constructive criticism, listen openly and honestly. Question them on their perception of you and ask for ways they might recommend improvement. Have them identify road blocks that might be holding you back from being the best you can be.
Nothing will work unless you do Maya Angelou
Raise your energy, be thankful for all that you have and have attained in your life. Build your confidence by admitting your accomplishments. It is alright to give yourself that positive pep talk in the mirror when you start your day. Today I will be the best I can be Self talk is a powerful tool, you can be your own worst enemy or your own best friend (be the friend)
Organize yourself for success. Do not let worry over small things you cannot control take over your every thought. Deal only with the necessities so you do not get distracted. Do not over commit, it is alright to say no. Only agree to do what you say you will. Make sure that you are moving towards your goals and that the extras that you take on fit with your plan. Eat healthy, love yourself first. Be at your best, so when you give of your time and support to others you have something to give. Give yourself some time off. Take that vacation and take time to relax. Make sure that you take time just for you.
Share your talents (you have many). Help others, clean out your closet and donate clothes and shoes that you do not wear any longer. Purge the clutter from your life. Organize a food drive to support a local charity, you can help someone else out and the feeling you get keeps you motivated and positive. Write a letter, a thank you note, send a get well card, a birthday card. You can just say hi to a neighbor you don t always talk with. Visit an elderly family member or friend. All of these small items will build that positive feeling, a sense of accomplishment and confidence to do it again. Making yourself a better person and making a difference in someone else's life.
Be yourself, be unique. Celebrate with friends and family. Celebrate with your co-workers and peers. Smile and say hello, someone might be having a bad day and it just might be enough to make them have a better day. Find satisfaction in all that you do. Look for that silver lining. This will minimize the bumps in the journey you are on to becoming the best you, you can be.
Have a cause or a big dream. Be hungry for change, for passion in your life, and for continued learning. One more step to take is let go of the past. It is over and done but today and tomorrow are ahead of you. Set your goal, reach for the reward
Setbacks that may occur could be: A sense of entitlement make the effort and do the work Stress let go of the things you cannot control, just focus on the end results Do not be a negative person do not be around negative people, or people that do not share your dream or vision Do not compare yourself to others you are unique, it is your dream, your goal Do not be impatient Rome was not built in a day and you did not become you in a day, but each day is a new beginning
Do not be lazygive a 100%. It might be 90% today but it could be a 110% tomorrow Do not be ungrateful be thankful for all that you have an have attained Do not be super serious let happiness, joy, laughter and fun into your life Do not make excuses nobody wants to hear it and nobody cares. Own your mistakes, learn from them and keep moving towards your goals
Understanding and developing your self motivations is the first step in improving your life both personally and professionally. Be a strong positive person, have goals, dreams and aspire to reach them Only make promises to yourself and to others that you know you can keep and meet. It really is alright to say no sometimes.
In closing set your goals, define your dreams personal and professional. Evaluate yourself Change your habits Be positive Be confident Show the world who and what you are
Be that amazing person that others want to be near. Be that great leader Be a fantastic mentor for others Learn, grow and unlock your full potential We all have IT in us, unlock it and let yourself shine Find your path to be the Best you, you can be
Are there any questions? Thank you
