The Feast of Weeks - Shavuot
Mark 16:19-20; Acts 2:1-8; Jeremiah 31:31-34
So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken
to them, was taken up into heaven and sat
down at the right hand of God. And they went
out and preached everywhere, while the Lord
worked with them and confirmed the
message by accompanying signs.
Mark 16:19–20
ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all
together in one place. And suddenly there came
from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind,
and it filled the entire house where they were
sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to
them and rested on each one of them. And they
were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to
speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them
utterance.
Acts 2:1–4
ESV
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant with the house of
Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant
that I made with their fathers on the day when I
took them by the hand to bring them out of the land
of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I
was their husband, declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 31:31–32
ESV
For this is the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my law within them, and I will write it on
their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall
be my people. And no longer shall each one teach
his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know
the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least
of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will
forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin
no more.”
Jeremiah 31:33–34

The indwelling Holy Spirit, whose
purpose, among many things, is to
witness and lead man into the truth of
Christ.
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he
will keep my word, and my Father will love
him, and we will come to him and make our
home with him. Whoever does not love me
does not keep my words. And the word that
you hear is not mine but the Father’s who
sent me.
John 14:23–24
ESV
“These things I have spoken to you while
I am still with you. But the Helper, the
Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in
my name, he will teach you all things and
bring to your remembrance all that I have
said to you.
John 14:25–26
ESV
But when the goodness and loving kindness
of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not
because of works done by us in
righteousness, but according to his own
mercy, by the washing of regeneration and
renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Titus 3:4–5
ESV
whom he poured out on us richly through
Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being
justified by his grace we might become
heirs according to the hope of eternal
life.
Titus 3:6–7
ESV
The Spirit himself bears witness with our
spirit that we are children of God, and if
children, then heirs—heirs of God and
fellow heirs with Christ, provided we
suffer with him in order that we may also
be glorified with him.
Romans 8:16–17

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the
mercies of God, to present your bodies as a
living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God,
which is your spiritual worship. Do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewal of your mind, that by testing
you may discern what is the will of God, what
is good and acceptable and perfect.

But the Spirit of the Lord clothed
Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet,
and the Abiezrites were called out to

Judges 6:34
ESV
For by grace you have been saved
through faith. And this is not your
own doing; it is the gift of God, not a
result of works, so that no one may
boast.
Ephesians 2:8–9
ESV
For by the grace given to me I say to
everyone among you not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to
think, but to think with sober judgment,
each according to the measure of faith
that God has assigned.
Romans 12:3
ESV
though formerly I was a blasphemer,
persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I
received mercy because I had acted
ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of
our Lord overflowed for me with the faith
and love that are in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:13–14
ESV
But thanks be to God, that you who were
once slaves of sin have become
obedient from the heart to the standard
of teaching to which you were
committed, and, having been set free
from sin, have become slaves of
righteousness.
Romans 6:17–18
ESV
But the Spirit of the Lord clothed
Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet,
and the Abiezrites were called out to
follow him.
Judges 6:34
ESV
The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and
he judged Israel. He went out to war, and
the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of
Mesopotamia into his hand. And his
hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.
Judges 3:10
ESV
Then the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon
him, and although he had nothing in his
hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one
tears a young goat. But he did not tell his
father or his mother what he had done.
Judges 14:6
ESV
And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon
him, and he went down to Ashkelon and
struck down thirty men of the town and
took their spoil and gave the garments to
those who had told the riddle. In hot
anger he went back to his father’s house.
Judges 14:19
ESV
And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to
you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you
will not only do what has been done to the fig
tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be
taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will
happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you
will receive, if you have faith.”
Matthew 21:21–22
ESV
As soon as Gideon heard the telling of
the dream and its interpretation, he
worshiped. And he returned to the camp
of Israel and said, “Arise, for the Lord
has given the host of Midian into your
hand.”
Judges 7:15
ESV
Does he who supplies the Spirit to
you and works miracles among you
do so by works of the law, or by
hearing with faith—
Galatians 3:5
ESV
Does God work amongst us by
obeying the Law, or by believing in
faith?
Who will you give priority to: the old
man or the Holy Spirit living in you?
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into
the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart,
but believes that what he says will come
to pass, it will be done for him.
Mark 11:23
ESV
“If you love me, you will keep my
commandments. And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Helper, to be
with you forever, even the Spirit of truth,
whom the world cannot receive, because it
neither sees him nor knows him. You know
him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

ESV

  4. Jeremiah 31:3132 Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. ESV

  5. Jeremiah 31:3334 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.
