History of the Globe Theatre
The theatre was located in Southwark, London right by
the River Thames.
The Globe was built and opened in the year 1599.
The Globe burnt down during a performance of Henry
VIII in 1613 after a cannon being used for the
performance misfired and hit one of the wooden
beams.
Reopened in the summer of 1614 and closed by the
Puritans in 1642.
