Occasion of the Epistle…

This is Paul 2nd epistle to the Corinthian church. In the first
epistle Paul addressed both problems & concerns at Corinth
church and questions from the Corinthian brethren…

The epistle seems to have been written while Paul was in
Macedonia after he had previously left Ephesus due to the
problems caused by Demetrius while in Ephesus (2 Cor
2:12)…
•
Paul sent Titus to Corinth because he was not able to make it
as previously planned because of an opportunity that had
been granted him (1 Cor 16:5-11 Cf 2 Cor 2:12). Because of
the pressing issues addressed by him in the 1st epistle. Paul
and the sternness of it (1 Cor 3:1-3; 11:17-22). He had
anxiety regarding what Titus will report back regarding their
state Cf (2 Cor 2:3-8; 7:8)...

For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could
swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying,
“
Surely
blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.
”
And so,
after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men
indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation
is
for
them an end of all dispute. Thus God, determining to show more
abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel,
confirmed
it
by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it
is
impossible for God to lie, we might have strong
consolation
, who
have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before
us.
