Centuries of dreaming about flying led to the Wright brothers' historic first flight in 1903. This monumental achievement revolutionized travel, making long distances seem shorter and opening up a new world of possibilities. Contrasting the early days of aviation with modern advancements, it's incredible to see how far we've come.

  1. FIRST FLIGHT

  2. A DREAM OF FLYING For centuries people dreamt about being able to fly, but then it wasn t possible. Everyone remembers myth about Daedalus and Icarus, but there is no evidence that they actually flew. That's why the Wright brothers came up with the idea of creating a flying machine.

  3. BEGINNINGS In 1903, the two brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright constructed their first "Flyer I . The aircraft was made of wood covered of muslin fabrics. The wings spread of Flyer 1 was 12,29 m and it s length was 6,43 m.

  4. THE FIRST FLIGHT On January 17, 1903, the world's first flight took place in the Kill Devil Hills of North Carolina. Orville Wright was the pilot of Flyer I.It flew 36.5 meters in 12 seconds and it was flying at a speed of 48 km/h. There were four flight tests that day - the longest one was 59 seconds.

  5. HOW DID THIS AFFECT PEOPLE AND WHY WAS IT SO SHOCKING? long distances are no longer a problem travelling to all the places of the world visiting distant parts of the world is faster people didn t realise that it was possible

  6. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PLANES NOW AND THEN the first aircraft reached a maximum speed of 48 km/h and now it is about 800-1000 km/h old aircrafts could take few passengers aboard, now the biggest planeAirbus 380 can take 853 passengers Flyer 1 flown distances between 37 metres up to 38 km, nowadays it is almost 6000 km.

  7. THE SPREAD OF AVIATION IN POLAND The Fathers of aviation in Poland are Franciszek wirko and Stanis aw Wigura. They were Polish pilots and constructors of the RWD aircraft on which they won international competitions Challenge 1932.
