The Croton Welcome Wagon Creating community since 2022
Who are we and what do we do? Alanna Fraase Taryn McAllister Clara Moskowitz Alana Jessie Marisa Butin We are a group of Croton-on-Hudson neighbors that formed a welcoming committee to pass on greetings and helpful information for newcomers to the village. Some of us have been here for a long time and others are recent arrivals, but there is one thing we all share in common: we love this community and hope that any newcomer will too.
How does it work? The Welcome Wagon relies on the members of the community and real estate agents to notify us of any newcomer that has recently moved to Croton-on-Hudson (via a Google form). Upon notification, the committee coordinates delivery of a welcome package with helpful information and items from local organizations and businesses to ensure the newcomer feels welcomed and is aware of all our community has to offer.
Whats in the bag? A letter from the Welcome Wagon with links to helpful information Information about current seasonal programs from the Croton Department of Parks & Recreation Welcome letters, coupons/flyers, and swag from local organizations and businesses
Impact We ve delivered welcome bags to 45 new families since April 2022! We ve partnered with 25 local businesses and organizations, including the Croton Free Library, Croton Historical Society, Croton EMS, Croton Running Company, Bennett Conservatory of Music, and many others
Funding So far we are almost completely self-funded (though one local business donated $25!) Expenses (around $300 to date) include: Paper bags Stickers Business cards & postcards Paper Printing of Welcome Bag materials and flyers Tissue paper With additional funding we d like to: Order Welcome Wagon-branded reusable bags for the gift bags Purchase Welcome Wagon t-shirts to wear in the Summerfest parade, at the Welcome Potluck, etc. Plan more events
