INFLUENCES Today, our great problem, what we believe to be juvenile delinquency, is parent delinquent, a home delinquent. Our people got away from the things that they should have stayed with. The church got lukewarm or cold, and the children got out into the world. Now Hollywood puts out lots of movies, televisions, uncensored, where they curse and use God's Name in vain. And it used to be it was wrong for the children in the holiness churches to go to picture shows, and now Satan got one jump ahead, by bringing it right in the house, in the form of television, and then uncensored, and so forth. TAKING.SIDES.WITH.JESUS We got to think of young people. So we've got to think of the others that's coming on behind us, these young people, and a place for our children. 1. Spiritual: This is a discipline of the heart, based on Bible and Message principles; the ultimate aim is developing a spiritual relationship with Christ. HEBREWS 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, Christian Family 1 and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 03-14-2020 20
Chasteneth: (Gr.) paideia 1) The whole training and education of children which relates to the cultivation of mind and morals, and employs for this purpose now commands and admonitions, now reproof and punishment. It also includes the training and care of the body; 2) Whatever in adults also cultivates the soul, by correcting mistakes, curbing passions. 3) Instruction which aims at increasing virtue. 3. Behaviour: The discipline of the will: should be consequence oriented, If you do this you can have this. If not E.g. Samson, if he didn t give away his secret, he had strength. The converse is also true. You say, that s Old Testament conditional covenants, We re under grace! Boundaries The Lord s instruction for parents is that they teach a child boundaries (Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. Prov. 19:18 ) Boundaries help a child see that life is not about pursuing what he wants but surrender- ing to the Lord and following Him. Boundaries set with unconditional love will teach children to surrender to the Lord because they trust that God knows what is best and will bring true contentment. Christian Family 1 03-14-2020 27
APPROACH.TO.GOD 37 It's not easy. When God gives you a whipping, you go out here and say, "Well, I'll mingle around a little bit." God will give you a real old fashion spanking for it. And I tell you, if we had more of that in the natural today, we'd have better children. God wants His household straightened out. So He gives you a little whipping, so you can get straightened up. MICAIAH.THE.PROPHET 5 I tell you: it was certainly a God-sent gift to me when God gave me my wife [Meda]. And thank you so much. And through there He's given me three lovely children. And she taken Billy Paul over. And usually a mother, a stepmother, to come in, you know how it is about that. I can say this, she loves that boy... She's better to him than his mother. She ought to have done a little more maybe, or maybe it'd been different. She left it all up to me. Some people say they don't believe in spanking them, but you know the Scriptures says if you spare the rod you spoil the son, so I believe in correcting children, making them mind. THE.APPROACH.TO.GOD 36 (Job) And all Job had was destroyed. God wasn't rebuking Job. He was only purging Job. I like that word, a purge. The branch that bears fruit, then God purges it, that it'll bring forth more fruit. The trouble of it is, we think sometimes God's angry with us. But He's only trying to purge us that we'll bring abundance of fruit, giving us trials. Did you ever know, that every son that cometh to God, must first be tried, child whipping correction? It's not easy you go out here and say, "Well, I'll mingle around a little bit." God will give you a real old fashion spanking for it.
