Tecumseh High offers challenging and enriching classes for high ability students in 7th and 8th grade. The program includes challenge and excel classes in various subjects, with mandatory summer projects and science fairs. The intervention process is in place to ensure students are in the best academic placement for success.

  7. *IMPORTANT NOTE* Science fair and summer projects are not optional, they are required for the corresponding class. Without completion of the summer project, students will be removed from the class. Summer project information is posted on our website! *Exception: Honors Biology students who do not finish the summer project will be allowed to remain in the class but will lose 10% of their grade for Q1

  8. What happens when we feel a student is not in the best academic placement for success? Step 1: Teacher will reach out to student and parent to express concerns. Step 2: If concerns persist, teacher will contact me to initiate high ability intervention process. Step 3: We will meet with stakeholders to discuss a plan to help student achieve success. Plan will be implemented for a period of around 9 weeks. Step 4: Stakeholders will reconvene to determine next steps.

  9. Other ways that program movement happens If a teacher believes the student should move up a level, they will reach out to me to review data. Parent will be contacted for permission before a move happens. If a parent believes a student should move up a level, they may contact me and I will review data and collect teacher feedback before making a determination. If a parent believes a student should move down a level, this must be initiated in the first 5 weeks of the semester per the JHS curriculum guide. Parent may contact me and I will send them the form to complete.

  10. Summer Enrichment Programs If the tales of Percy Jackson stir your soul, then the summer mythology class awaits. Embark on a five- week odyssey delving into the mysteries of Mount Olympus! DO YOU HOLD A FONDNESS FOR THE EERIE AND ENIGMATIC? IF SO, THE SUMMER HORROR CURRICULUM BECKONS TO YOU. OVER THE COURSE OF 5 WEEKS, YOU SHALL IMMERSE YOURSELF IN SPINE- CHILLING TALES AND ENGAGE IN SPIRITED DISCUSSIONS WITH YOUR PEERS. Dates are May 28-June 27 Classes M-TH from 8-11a.m. (Lunch at 10:30) Contact Mr. Brown to enroll in either or both classes sabrown@lsc.k12.in.us
