Workshop Goals 1. Create a community of faculty from across campus who are interested in sustainability. 2. Actively work on integrating sustainability into your course syllabus. 3. Learn how to apply for the SUST course designation. 4. Introduce FLC s, Teaching Scholars, small Grant, sustainability Professor
Sustainability Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) 1. Consists of faculty from across campus. 2. Meets monthly to approve new courses for the SUS designation and five years reviews of existing SUS courses. 3. Approves any changes to the SUS course designation process. 4. Advises the Director of Sustainability Education on issues related to sustainability ed across campus.
SUST Course Attribute Application In order to apply for a SUST attribute : A course must explore four UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and/or Sustainability Topic Areas The syllabus must contain a SUST Attribute section that includes the following: Identify four SDGs that are explored in the course content Identify two learning outcomes that integrate SDG content The two SDGs addressed in course learning outcomes must be directly connected to a significant course assessment

Sustainability Faculty Learning Community (FLC) Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) are interdisciplinary groups of faculty devoted to enhancing teaching, learning, and the university experience. FLCs have been shown to increase faculty interest in teaching and learning while providing a safe space for faculty to explore and implement new approaches, give and receive feedback, and generate a knowledge base accessible to the broader university community. Monthly (Starting in September 2023, you will receive a calendar invite)
Sustainability Teaching Scholars Sustainability Teaching Scholars are faculty who have experience integrating the sustainable development goals into course curriculum. They have completed the Sustainability Teaching Workshop and demonstrated a commitment to furthering sustainability education on campus. Participants who have completed the Sustainability Teaching Workshop are eligible to apply for a small grant or teaching assistant award and enroll in the Sustainability Teaching Scholars program. Faculty in the program will design and implement an action plan to integrate the big ideas of sustainability into their courses and engage in the Sustainability Faculty Learning Community events throughout year. Sustainability Teaching Professor The Sustainability Teaching Professorship is designed to further engage a faculty member in developing sustainability education resources in order to promote the inclusion of sustainability in curriculum campus-wide. The Sustainability Teaching Professorship will be awarded $10,000 for one academic year, starting August 1 and ending May 31. The recipient must be available for this entire time period and complete the following requirements: Meeting with the Director of Sustainability Education before the fall semester begins. Develop and plan two Faculty Learning Community topics (one each semester) over the year. Assist the Director of Sustainability Education with the planning and implementation of the following year s Sustainability Teaching Scholars Workshop. Give a presentation at the Sustainability Teaching Workshop on the sustainability work they are personally engaged in. Attend one Sustainability Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) meeting during this time period. Application Deadline April 1, 2024
