Innovation Ecosystem Mapping (Sectors): Academia Regulators (Cybersecurity) The term Innovation Ecosystem describes the diverse range of participants and resources that are necessary for innovation and change. Such a framework models the relationships that are formed between entities whose functional goal is to enable technology development and innovation. Telecom eGOB Finance Private-Sector

  3. INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS Academia (University of Belize): Q: Is Belize ready for digital transformation, in the context of the current education system? Note education is one of the most critical components for enabling digital transformation. Strong IT program delivered Additional resources needed

INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS Regulators (Public Utilities Commission): On the matter of Cybersecurity and such threats, inclusive of communicating awareness to the general populace, is there a specific institution in charge of oversight? Cybersecurity is key to the success of digital transformation and ensuring confidence in the general populace for embracing the transformation. Phishing and attached are a constant reality Education needed Legislative framework needed

  5. INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS Telecom: Belize Telemedia Ltd. What is Belize s telecom infrastructure s readiness to incorporate the digital needs of the expected transformation? Best practices demonstrate the presence of country innovation labs and facilities. How is Belize coping with such a practice? Newly upgraded nationwide fibreoptic infrastructure for high speed Internet Education and outreach

INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS eGOB (Central Information Technology Office): On the matter of eGovernment and its implementation status, inclusive of the associated policy and strategies; where is this? On the matter of implementation with limited resources, and high expectations from the citizenry; where is this? Policy and strategies in place, but needs institutionalization through buy-in Coordinated planning Microsoft 365 implemented across GOB Leadership

  7. INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS Finance: Banking How ready is the financial sector for embracing digital transformation (e.g., eBanking, Credit Card System, Financial System)? Steady transition to eBanking Need for greater local independence in the face of external phenomena

INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM NEEDS Private-Sector: industry, entrepreneurs etc. Is there a strong community of vibrant I.T. citizenry / talents (e.g., application developers), with readiness to embrace the anticipated digital transformation? On the matter of amassing talents, particularly from the education pool, is there a champion to lead this effort? Local qualified talents are available, but needs encouragement and opportunities Need for collaboration to organize and advocacy to build confidence Need for stimulating interest in STEM
