Overview of the Department of ESTI ESTI: mandated to undertake the development and harmonization of policies and programs in Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation for inclusive growth and sustainable development of Africa to contribute towards the AU Agenda 2063 and the global sustainable development agenda/SDGs. The Department of ESTI has two Divisions: (1) Education; and (2) Science, Technology, and Innovation. 4 Specialized Technical Offices STRC, AOSTI, IPED, CIEFFA 2 AU Organs: PAU and PAIPO (Specialized Technical Agency) ESTI receives policy guidance from the Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (STC-EST) ESTI is the Secretariat of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Governments (C10) championing education, science, technology and innovation 2

Implementation of Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA) and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through Member States and Partners using the cluster method. 2. Promoting women and girls in education in Africa 3. Promoting development curation and use of education statistics 4. Increasing number of highly qualified citizens in the fields of sciences, technology and innovations with skills that are aligned to the continent s human resource requirements

A Continental Strategy: STISA 2024 a successor for the Africa s Science and Technology Consolidated Plan of Action 2005-2013- it builds on the experiences of implementing the CPA forms a common platform for engaging in STI, at national, regional and continental levels which can enhance science diplomacy promotes cooperation in STI both intra-Africa and internationally articulates Africa s STI focus within the AU 2063 Agenda
