Strategic Plan Vision To be a vibrant and friendly Club that Makes a Difference by providing service and support for the benefit of our local and international communities. Strategic Goals Our guiding principles or actions to achieve the strategic goals are identified in respect of: Club Administration What we do Our Projects Maintaining our Membership Public Relations/Marketing Broader Rotary Involvement
Strategic Plan Club Administration Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles President to have latitude within these constraints: at least one committee addressing the Avenues of Service . committees addressing Membership and Club Fellowship. Maintain a relevant and effective Club structure Weekly Bulletin, Information provided to weekly meetings by President and Committee Chairs/Project Leads. Quarterly Club Assemblies. Ensure that effective intra- Club communication is maintained Nominating Committee appointed each year. Limit terms of office to no more than: President 1 year Secretary and Treasurer 2 years (ideally changing alternate years) Committee Chairs 3 years Avenue of Service and Project Leads 3 years Board member (Executive member or Director) no more than 5 years consecutive and 5 in any 10 years. Encourage newer member involvement Have a succession plan that encourages broad membership involvement
Strategic Plan Club Administration (cont) Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Provide information to ensure that Club roles and responsibilities are understood. Develop documented procedures/manuals for all ongoing projects and programs, including (for example) the Annual Golf Day, School Citizenship Awards. Further develop and maintain the Members Handbook. Provide information about Rotary in general and the activities/workings of, and roles and responsibilities within the Club. Regularly provide relevant Rotary information Consider role sharing, particularly for key roles such as Secretary, Treasurer, Committee Chairs and Project Leads. Rationalise our bank accounts. Finish development of the Members Only section of the Club website. Continue to hold weekly meetings. Maintain a balance of Guest Speaker topics, including: Rotary programs/activities Club member presentations Organisations seeking/having received support General interest Ensure that our meeting structure remains efficient and effective. Ease the administrative load Ensure that our meetings are vibrant and interesting
Strategic Plan Our Projects Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Community Service: Continue supporting the work of local community support organisations including Knox Infolink Expand our fleet of Little Libraries. Continue the investigation of options to support the Homeless. Investigate/develop the Youth Music Therapy project. Continue to hold annual ANZAC Day Commemoration Service for Schools. Continue implementation of established and developing projects Identify and support/implement local community projects both hands on and financially Engage with local schools, local community support organisations and Knox City Council to identify need and develop projects Support the Ride for Medical Research project through representation on the organising committee and participation. Support the annual Hat Day Lift the Lid on Mental Illness. Encourage individual support by promoting the work of Australian Rotary Health. Continue to support Australian Rotary Health
Strategic Plan Our Projects (cont) Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles International Service: Maintain our Sister Club relationship with the Rotary Club of Taveuni Island. Continue support of Fiji projects, including: Taveuni Eye Project. Taveuni Island Student Assistance (Scholarship) Project. Continue to support Donations in Kind through the collection of used furniture and equipment and unwanted goods as opportunities arise. Continue implementation of established and developing projects Identify and support / implement international projects, both hands on and financially Leverage Fiji experience to identify other International projects.
Strategic Plan Our Projects (cont) Strategic Goal Youth Service: Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Sponsor candidates to Rotary District Programs including (for example): RYLA Rotary Youth Leadership Award program. RYPEN Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment. MUNA Model United Nations Assembly. Maintain a strong partnership with local schools, youth support organisations and youth sporting groups as a means of identifying candidates. Ensure that award beneficiaries are invited to provide feedback at Club meetings. Support youth development through participation in Rotary District programs Club representative to attend Rotaract Club meetings Support Rotaract Club projects and activities. Engage Rotaract Club in our Club projects and activities. Maintain support for the Knox Rotaract Club Identify objectives to be achieved (how do we sell the concept). Liaise with local schools (secondary and primary respectively) to gauge interest. Conduct interest meetings. Establish and support clubs. Investigate the establishment local Interact and/or Earlyact Clubs
Strategic Plan Our Projects (cont) Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Vocational Service: Continue the annual Citizenship Awards for local primary schools Continue to sponsor the Apprenticeship Award for achievement under duress through Swinburne TAFE. Investigate/develop the Business Breakfast project. Promote vocational excellence in our community Continue vocational visits to local business organisations. Consider vocation visits / whole of Club engagement with other community service organisations. Educate our membership on different vocations

Continue to participate in Bunnings Barbeque fundraisers. Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities. Link fundraising to specific projects or programs. Maintain an adequate income stream to fund our projects.
Strategic Plan Maintaining our Membership Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Membership Growth and Retention Maintain the current proactive member recruitment program. Encourage all members to identify and approach potential new members. Invite representatives of industry groups to participate in meetings. Promote membership as an opportunity to develop and implement a project idea. Promote alternative membership arrangements including Family and Corporate Membership and Friends of Rotary. Consider scope for establishment of a Satellite Club. Maintain a healthy Club through membership growth Ensure that members are engaged. Assign a mentor(s) for all new members. Encourage members to take on Club leadership roles (Project Lead, Avenue of Service Lead, Committee Chair, etc.). Maintain a robust portfolio of projects through which to engage our membership. Maintain a healthy Club through membership retention
Strategic Plan Membership (cont) Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Fellowship Continue to promote Club Fellowship activities, including (for example) Guess Who s Coming to Dinner , etc. Promote fellowship through participation in hands-on projects. Promote interaction with/between Club members who are unable to attend face-to-face meetings (including during lockdown ). Maintain a friendly, collegiate environment amongst the membership Appoint an active Club Welfare Officer who keeps the Club membership informed. Acknowledge member milestones and achievements. Support the welfare of the Club membership
Strategic Plan Public Relations / Marketing Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Maintain an active Facebook page. Maintain an active website. Submit regular articles for publication in the local community newspapers. Identify opportunities for community display of our work. Actively engage with Knox Council Create a positive brand for the Club, and Rotary in general, in the community Use clear signage when undertaking hands-on projects. Install Rotary / Club badging where practical. Promote the Club s involvement in all that we do
Strategic Plan Broader Rotary Involvement Strategic Goal Action(s) to Achieve / Guiding Principles Rotary Foundation: Continue to fund The Rotary Foundation through annual giving of at least $100 per Club member. Encourage members to contribute to The Rotary Foundation through the Centurion program (Every Rotarian Every Year). Promote the work of The Rotary Foundation within the Club. Continue to support The Rotary Foundation District Support: Continue to support Rotary at District level Encourage member participation in District roles . Encourage member participation in District activities. Rotary Cluster Participation: Participate in cluster group Presidents meetings. Identify and participate in joint meetings of common interest Identify and participate in joint projects. Engage with cluster group Clubs
