PICTORIAL DRAWINGS STEP BY STEP
2010 HSC Question 16 (5 marks) Orthogonal views of an antenna bracket are given. Draw a full size pictorial sketch of the bracket viewed from the direction of the arrow. Take measurements from the orthogonal drawing. 5 marks Things to note: - Pictorial drawing; examiners will be looking to see that you know what and how to produce either an isometric or oblique sketch - Viewed in direction of arrow; examiners will be looking for correct orientation of your sketch - Full size; examiners will look for proportion and correct estimation of lengths (size does matter) - 5 marks; this means that even if you cannot successfully complete the question there are opportunities to pick up some marks by addressing the above points
Step 1; sketch a block in isometric that matches the overall dimensions, H L W, of the object. Ensure to use correct orientation. Step 2; transfer the shape of the front view onto the front face of the block and then project back from each corner to achieve overall shape
Step 3; add circles and curves and remove unwanted sections Step 4; block in holes and other details
Step 5; finalise tour sketch by completin all remain detail
2020 HSC Question 27 (6 marks) Produce a pictorial drawing of the toggle switch when viewed from the direction indicated by arrow A. Use a scale of 2 : 1. 6 marks Things to note: - Pictorial drawing; examiners will be looking to see that you know what and how to produce either an isometric or oblique sketch - Viewed in direction of arrow; examiners will be looking for correct orientation of your sketch - Scale of 2:1; examiners will look to see that you can interpret and apply a scale to your sketch - 6 marks; this means that even if you cannot successfully complete the question there are opportunities to pick up some marks by addressing the above points
