Students will gather information on geography, famous people, state symbols, and more, neatly compiling it in a packet. Subsequently, they will design a float showcasing the state name, flag, symbols, and date of statehood, alongside other key elements. The project encourages creativity, attention to detail, and fun while educating about a special state.

  1. State Float Project You will be learning about one state through your research. You will plan and create a parade float that will inform other students about your special state. State Research: Students will research and complete the A-Z State Float Notes packet about their assigned state. The packet includes information on geography, famous people, state symbols, government, sports, etc. The packet should be neatly written and include color when possible. We will do most of the research at school, but may also be completed at home. State Float: You will design and create a parade float for your state at home. Your State Float should be made out of a shoe box or other small box. Parade floats are beautiful and colorful, so be creative! Use tissue paper, construction paper, etc to cover all sides of your box. Models, pictures or figures can be added to add interest and creativity. Put your float together carefully. Your float must include: State name in neat lettering State Flag State Symbols (tree, bird, etc) Date of Statehood Outline of states shape Chose at least 3 other items from you re A-Z State Float Notes to be represented on your float. Rubrics for both parts of this project are on the back. Use your rubric to make sure that your project is complete .and most importantly HAVE FUN!!! Projects are due ___October 22, 2019_________

  2. State Float Project Rubric A-Z State Float Notes: The expectation is that each of the 26 boxes be complete, neatly written and use color when possible. Each of the 26 squares will be worth 3 points each. For a total of 78 points. A-Z Squares --------- / 26 (x 3 points each) Writing Mechanics -------- / 12 Neatness -------- / 10 Bibliography -------- / 10 Total --------- / 110 State Float: State name in neat lettering State Flag State Symbols (tree, bird, etc) Date of Statehood Outline of states shape Chose at least 3 other items from the A-Z State Float Notes to be represented -------- / 10 -------- / 10 -------- / 10 -------- / 10 -------- / 10 -------- / 30 Creativity -------- / 10 Effort -------- / 10 Total --------- / 100
