SB 1696 and HB 7011 – Student Athletics
Both address the requirement of each High School to have the following:
To make a “Cooling Zone” available at all outside athletic events which can
include a cold-water immersion tub. Language describes a 100-gl tub.
Each High School will have a temperature device that measures temperature,
humidity, sun angle, and wind and cloud cover. Such a device is a WetBulb
Globe Temperature device, known as a WBGT
100-Gallon Immersion Tubs can run from $150 to $1300 online
HB 7011 states they can cost up to $8,000 each, as “it is unclear how many
schools would need to purchase tubs to comply with the requirements of the bill”
