  2. Let Her Go Lyrics Well you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go Staring at the bottom of your glass Hoping one day you'll make a dream last But dreams come slow and they go so fast You see her when you close your eyes Maybe one day you'll understand why Everything you touch surely dies But you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go 'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go 'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go Staring at the ceiling in the dark Same old empty feeling in your heart 'Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast Well you see her when you fall asleep But never to touch and never to keep 'Cause you loved her too much and you dive too deep Well you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go Oh oh oh no And you let her go Oh oh oh no Well you let her go

  3. 5 Questions 1. What picture comes into mind when you hear the first few lines of the song? Why? When I hear the first few lines of the lyrics, I imagine it being a love and breakup song. It feels like a man is feeling grief over a breakup or losing a loved one whether it is a family member or girlfriend. I thought that he was comparing it to other sad moments he had in his life. 2. Why does the lyrics, "Staring at the ceiling in the dark", "Same old empty feeling in your heart" represent imagery? The 2 lines of lyrics represent imagery because I can create an image in my head of what the scene would be like, since it is descriptive. "Staring at the ceiling in the dark" makes me create an image of the guy lying down on his bed in the dark and thinking about the memories with his loved one. "Same old empty feeling in your heart" makes me think that he is lonely and no one is there to make him happy again.

  4. 5 Questions Continued 3.Where do you picture the place the guy is at? I picture the guy being at his quiet, dark home sitting around doing nothing. I imagine it being gloomy in the house with no lights except for daylight and he is just lying in bed staring blankly. 4. What do you think the personification "Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast" mean? I think it means that it may take some time to find a lover and get in a relationship but if you are not the right match it ends so fast. Breaking up takes way less time and goes away in a hurry. It is difficult to meet the right person for you and it may even take years. Not everything can go the way you want it to go.

  5. 5 Questions Continued 5. What do all the metaphors like "Only miss the sun when it starts to snow" and "Only hate the road when you're missing home" compare to losing a loved one? The metaphors kind of relate to losing a loved one because you don't really think about breakups when you are in a relationship. Once you break up, you realize it and start missing the person.

  6. Theme/Message of the song The main message/theme of this song is that you don't realize what you have or own until it disappears or is gone. In my interpretation, most of the lyrics in the song represent the main idea that you miss the person or object after you realize it's gone. Another similar interpretation is that you didn't think about how thankful you are of the things you have and appreciate it. After you find out it disappeared, you regret appreciating them. I would say they are using statements like "Only miss the sun when it starts to snow" in comparison to "Only know you love her when you let her go" which I think is the main statement in this song. The song's main topic is a breakup between a man and woman who were a couple. The statement "Cause love comes slow and it goes fast" clearly tells that the man had a breakup with the woman really fast he didn't even recognize it.
