This report covers the Student Safety Data System (SSDS) incidents, HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) investigations, and programs implemented during the 2018-2019 school year. It also includes information on the Electronic Violence & Vandalism Reporting System (EVVRS) history and measures taken to ensure student safety through board policies, school procedures, staff training, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

Electronic Violence & Vandalism Reporting System (EVVRS) Twelve year history: 2007-2008: 10 incidents 2008-2009: 4 incidents 2009-2010: 9 incidents 2010-2011: 2 incidents 2011-2012: 5 incidents 2012-2013: 4 incidents 2013-2014: 2 incidents 2014-2015: 1 incident 2015-2016: 1 incident 2016-2017 0 incidents 2017-2018 2 incidents 2018-2019 2 incidents
What Keeps Our Students Safe? Board policies/regulations. School procedures and School Safety Plan. Character Education (Tuesdays). Culture and Climate Initiative (United Way and College of St. Elizabeth). Staff professional development. Cooperation with law enforcement (H.T.P.D., M.C.P.O., O.E.M.). L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) classes in grade 5. Replaced the D.AR.E. program.
HIB Investigations, Trainings and Programs Investigations: 5 Confirmed HIB: 2
HIB Investigations, Trainings and Programs SAFE Schools Training-Suicide Prevention, Health and Safety topics- Completed by faculty, staff and administrative team. The training consisted of a total of thirteen online sessions, each requiring a comprehensive assessment in order to complete the course. HIB Training for Faculty and Staff: - Cyber-bullying, Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, HIB consequences, HIB prevention and intervention, School Climate and Culture improvement. - Character Education Curriculum/Climate and Culture Teams - Patrick Fennel- 4 Professional Development staff, peer, and student relationships United Way School Support Network workshops District s Anti-Bullying Specialist attended training/related workshops throughout the school year- December 6th, 2018- full day PD for HIB specialist Harding Township School District had 10 HIB trainings in total throughout the school year that various faculty and staff attended
HIB Investigations, Trainings and Programs District-wide Character Education program- a common language for all HTS students. - hour once per week- fifth year of program Renewal of the Climate and Culture Initiative. The district has continued its partnership with the United Way and The College of St. Elizabeth. Student Summit- Drew University- HTS students and staff attended Climate and Culture Meetings-teachers, parents and students- Mrs. Baldassari, Ms. Thony, and Mrs. Macaulay Week of Respect Programs- Great Kindness Challenge, Scott Chesney Positive Behavior Recognition Program- First assembly in November recognized students good behavior in front of the whole school and invited parents. Successive assemblies were held in March and June.
Conclusion Harding Township School is proud to be a safe and caring environment for our students to learn and grow. HTS faculty and administration have made a concerted effort to improve the climate and culture of our school over the past four plus years. The results of our Climate and Culture Survey (posted on the district website) showed significant improvements in all areas of the survey and across all stakeholder groups (parents, teachers, and students) HTS is thankful to our parents and school board for its continued support of the Climate and Culture committee.
