  2. Any staff person that transports hazardous drugs (HDs) throughout the facility. Who should take this training? These staff may include facility administration, pharmacists and nurses. 2

Contents of a spill kit A full-face piece chemical cartridge-type respirator may be needed for events such as large spills Instructions for cleaning up a spill Two pairs of disposable chemical-protective gloves Low permeability, disposable protective garment (gown or coverall, shoe covers) Face shield/ splash goggles Respirator (N95 or better) Absorbent, plastic-backed sheets or spill pads Disposable towels At least two sealable, thick plastic waste disposal bags A disposable scoop for collecting glass fragments A puncture-resistant container Sign saying Caution Hazardous Drug Spill Incident reporting form 8 Reference: 1

  13. Wipe Down Bags and Entry Ports Outside of bags or bottles Should be wiped with moist gauze wetted with alcohol or another appropriate solution Should be wiped with moist alcohol pads and capped Entry ports 13 Reference: 1,3

  15. All transport of HD packages should be done in a manner to reduce environmental contamination in the event of accidental dropping. Reference: 3
