  2. LEGAL BACKGROUND The mexican tax law contemplates the following information in the Federal Tax Law in its article 27

  3. DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE RFC? Short answer is NO. Anyone that is 60 years or older will not need an appointment.

  4. REQUIREMENTS FOR RFC i. Proof of address (Phone, electrical, water bills) if none of the before mentioned are available, a lease agreement will suffice. FMM or Visa (Temporal y Permanent). ID (Passport or Driver s License). If your home country requires it, a tax ID document issued by your country (Apostille if it applies or Legalization).

  5. DISADVANTES OF NOT HAVING A RFC. If you don t have a RFC, you cannot claim capital gains tax exemptions on any property you own when you sell; banks now ask for a RFC when you open a bank account in Mexico; and car dealers ask for a RFC when you purchase a car in Mexico. Also, if your vehicle is totalled, the insurance will not pay the amount established in your insurance policy if you don t have a RFC, you will need a Constancia de situaci n fiscal . A new vehicle will not be allowed to be purchased of there s no RFC. Property will not be able to be acquired if there s no RFC.

  6. OUR ADVICE It will make your life much easier to have your RFC done. It will be issued on the same day and you will be able to download your Tax ID information (Constancia de situaci n Fiscal) anytime on the internet.
