Remote Sensing Panel Discussion: Addressing Challenges in RFI Reporting, Regulations, and Protection of Operations
The Remote Sensing panel discussion highlights key issues such as the lack of RFI reporting to the ITU, importance of RFI reporting for regulatory enforcement, obstacles in protecting remote sensing operations, desired changes in Radio Regulations, and potential discussion points for the research and operational communities. The panelists delve into topics surrounding RFI interference, regulatory complexities, and the need for clearer guidelines to safeguard critical services.

Remote Sensing panel discussion Remote Sensing panel discussion David M. Le Vine: Given the importance of RFI reporting, why aren t there more reports of RFI interference to the ITU?
Why Are There Not More Reports to the ITU? United States The Process Appears Complex RS 2106 SIRRS No Mission Requirements to Report RFI Science problem Whose Fault is RFI Instrument band pass filter? Out of band emission?
Remote Sensing panel discussion Remote Sensing panel discussion Alvaro Llorente: How important is RFI reporting to push for the reinforcement of the regulations by the different administrations?
Remote Sensing panel discussion Remote Sensing panel discussion Markus Dreis: What are the major obstacles to protecting remote sensing operations in the WRC?
Remo7hte Sensing panel discussion Remo7hte Sensing panel discussion Stephen English: What changes to the Radio Regulations would the science community like to see?
What changes to the RRs would the research and operational communities like to see? Potential discussion points: Why do RRs put onus on victim of interference to act? Can more be done to actively enforce RRs? What to do about bands that support critical services but are not adequately supported, notably 6.9 and 18.7 GHz? Can the RRs be clearer what constitutes proof of illegal RFI? Can the process to prove this be simplified to help users who suffer loss? Can the RRs be translated to language users in research and operations can readily understand? In meteorology we refer to some bands as the crown jewels . Should the RRs reflect that some bands are more important than others, or would this amount to saying the less important bands are up for grabs ? These are just some ideas for discussion points, but discussion can be anything
