Engage in a thoughtful self-reflection exercise by dividing a paper into four sections. Explore important people, places, and things in your life, set goals and ambitions for the school year, reflect on personal growth from the past year, and envision the type of person you aim to be by the end of the academic year. Seal your reflections in an envelope to be returned to you on the last day of school.

  1. Fold the paper so you have four sections

  2. Section #1: (Top left) Title this section People, Places & Things On this section of the paper, write down any people, places and/or things that are important to you in your life right now. Think beyond just writing Family, Friends, Home . Try to be as specific as possible and come up with at least 10 people, places and/or things.

  3. Section #2: (Top right) Title this section: Goals & Ambitions On this section of the paper, you will write down goals and ambitions you have for this school year. These goals/ambitions do not have to all be about academics. They can be personal goals/ambitions. Come up with at least 5 goals/ambitions.

  4. Section #3: (Bottom left) Title this section Then vs. Now On this section of the paper, think back to last school year. In what ways have you changed from this time last year to now? In what ways have you remained the same?

  5. Section #4: (Bottom right) Title this section By my last day of school.. On this section of the paper, write the type of person you think you will be by the end of this school year. Do you think you will change? How? If not, why not? What kind of person do you want to be by the end of the year?

  6. Fold your paper and put it into the envelope. Seal the envelope and on the front of it put your full name and class period. These will stay in a safe, locked location and will not be opened, even by me. You will get these back on your last day of school
