  1. JOY AND PEACE Lifegate 12/26/21

  2. Psalms 34 (v1-7) Taste and See That the LORD Is Good [a]Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away. 1 I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together! 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

  3. Psalms 34 (v8-14) 8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! 9 Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! 10 The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. 11 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

  4. Psalms 34 (v15- 15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. 21 Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. 22 The LORD redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.

  5. 1 Samuel 21:10-14 10 And David rose and fled that day from Saul and went to Achish the king of Gath. 11 And the servants of Achish said to him, Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing to one another of him in dances, Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands ? 12 And David took these words to heart and was much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13So he changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands and made marks on the doors of the gate and let his spittle run down his beard. 14 Then Achish said to his servants, Behold, you see the man is mad. Why then have you brought him to me?

  6. Psalms 34:2 ESV My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. AMP My soul makes its boast in the Lord; The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice. NLT I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. Strong s 6035 (anav) poor, afflicted, humble, meek, lowly Humbled as David was when he fled and went to Achish the king of Gath (Abimelech this was a philistine royal title meaning father-king ) David fled hoping the Philistines would welcome him as a deserter from Israel s army, and receive him.

  7. Philippians 4:4-11 [Note: likely written by Paul during one of his imprisonments] 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness[a] be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned[b] and received and heard and seen in me practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. God's Provision 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

  8. Habakkuk 3:17-18 Habakkuk Rejoices in the Lord 17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

  10. JOY and PeaceOpposites of Anxiety For those who know God: Joy and Peace happen when our minds are focused on Him. Anxiety/fear focuses on things outside of our control or things that we have no power to change (the past, the circumstances, the unknown) Joy= Gratitude + Praise [the cure for our anxieties] This will never change: The NOW/present reality of God let us praise Him and give thanks for who He is and what He has done!
