Progress Report of AFROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing Activities
The AFROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing has made significant progress by adopting a work plan, setting objectives, and focusing on strategic pillars such as training, research projects, cooperative audits, and communication. The group aims to provide suitable products to SAIs, increase interest in environmental issues, and facilitate experience sharing among members. Through various training sessions, participating in the development of guidelines, and conducting research projects, the group is enhancing the capacity of its members in environmental auditing. Additionally, cooperative audits and effective communication strategies play a vital role in achieving the group's vision and goals.

Background A Work-Plan was adopted in 2014 in Mombassa for the period 2014-2016 The main objectives were : to increase the interest of AFROSAI members for environmental audit, to facilitate environment audits in Africa the practice of

Acheivements TRAINING Successful and active participation of African SAIs in the INTOSAI Global Training Facility in ICED According to ICED Management, African SAIs represent a third of participants in their environmental sessions since 2014. audit training
Acheivements TRAINING African SAIs participated in the Forestry Audit training course organised by SAI Indonesia in 2014. We expect some SAIs to attend the 2016 session
Acheivements Research Projects and cooperative audits The Lake Chad successfully completed in 2015 and five reports have been tables in the 04 participating SAIs: Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger and Chad. A project on the River Niger Basin is added to AFROSAI WGEA portfolio of cooperative audits. joint audit was

Report Contact letters were sent to the the Tanzanian Minister of Water Resources who served as President of the Council of Ministers of the Nile Basin Initiative until 14th July 2016 A reply is awaited. We also had discussions with the African Development Bank that has renewed its interest for this project ain the month of July. ADB is planning to fund the audit project. Report After countries hosting the Congo Basin, a special information session will take place as a side event of our 6th Annual Meeting A planning meeting will follow before the end of this year as we succeeded in finding funding from GIZ consultation with SAIs of Proceed with the Basin cooperative audit Congo forest
Report Information about the 2016 edition of the training Introduction to EA in India was sent to all AFROSAI SAIs We are currently having discussions with ICED Management to finalise training programs for African SAIs that are based on their needs. 25 auditors is the least number needed for each training session course on Training session at ICED
Report We have been giving continuous update information Environmental activities within INTOSAI We conducted a survey to collect feedback from AFROSAI members in order to improve on the WGEA activities about related Continuous communication Audit
Report We look forward to ensuring that African SAIs contribute to INTOSAI WGEA next survey on environmental auditing We also look forward to African SAIs participation at the 17th INTOSAI WGEA Annual meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia from October, 24- 27, 2016 Continuous communication
