PRIVATE AEROSPACE INITIATIVES THAT HELPS REACHING UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES Ecuadorian Context Economy based on the primary activities; extraction of raw materials: oil, bananas, flowers, coffee, cacao, crustaceans, fish, wood, etc. Another relevant economic activity is Tourism industry (Galapagos Islands, Amazon, Cultural attractions, etc.) and Historic Software, machinery and other medium and high-tech products have a marginal contribution to economy. 11. PRIVATE AEROSPACE INITIATIVES THAT HELPS REACHING UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES Conclusions The adverse socio-cultural environment in Ecuador, has generated a non conventional model to develop its aerospace sector. Private initiatives have a crucial role in the insertion and participation of the country in the aerospace global community. This situation could happen in other developing countries. This non conventional model , needs to be recognized and included by the global aerospace community; enabling to private initiatives to receive support that usually is only received by governments. In the same way, private initiatives must to assume its responsibilities in favor the social and economic development of its own countries and the rest of the globe. By the time of this presentation writing the Ecuadorian Government decided to eliminate the IEE (governmental), citing lack of results. In 2017 the Colombian Space Agency AEC was founded as a civilian, non- goverment, non-profit entity (same model as the EXA), in 2018 has been accepted into the IAF and signed a cooperation agreement with the EXA. 11
