What is the Basis of your decision making? Our current cultural crisis is the result of poor disciple making and parenting. Our society is in a free fall no moral compass
2 Timothy 3: 1- 5 Last days people will become increasing selfish Satan will enhance their misbehavior Christians will need to be more aware of the times
No one has ever learned and applied scriptural principles to live by to find out later they don t work!!! God doesn t mislead you into a life style that hurts you, leaves you hanging. God s ways are not harmful and destructive to families, schools, governments, Nations. Why is it that so many people fear morally taught people who follow biblical principles?
Definition of Conviction Judicial term - Someone is declared guilty from a court case or a criminal case. Personal stance A firmly held belief and conviction that un willing to change Emotional response - A sense of remorse, sadness or guilt for misbehaving or making poor decision.
You will operate you life out of one or more of these principles: Emotion - Do what feels good, stop what feels bad - Opinion- developed from experience and influence by the input of friends, family, society. Science Facts - Developed by research and man s insights. Can be helpful..but influenced by agendas. Conviction - Deeply establish beliefs that are generally unbending. Developed over time. Obsession - Conviction gone bad. Overwhelming sense of I have to do this and nothing else matters. Common Sense Combination of all the good aspects of many of the ones mentioned.
Proverbs 2: 7- 10 7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. 8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. 9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.
Biblical teaching on establishing Convictions - Joshua 14: 7 I Thess 1 4 7 John 16: 7- 11 John 16: 12- 13 John 20:19 23 Rom. 2: 12- 18 1 Tim. 1: 5 1 Tim. 4: 1- 4 1 Tim. 18 29 Eph. 4: 1 6/ 11- 15 I John 5: 3
Without good biblical teaching, solid discipleship and accountability, new believers can get sucked into errant teachings that either have no principles or become a religious burden. Accurate teaching with Holy Spirit guidance is the only sure way to get properly grounded with good convictions Every Christian has Convictions that are tainted. That means we see through a glass dimly. Taking time to do inventory would be helpful: Ask God these questions: God, is this conviction from you or myself? God, am I judging others improperly our of my personal opinions? God, am I changing my convictions because of finances/ peer pressure/ trying to fit into a new relationship? God, am I happy with my life, or do I feel your requirements are a burden?
The high light of this teaching is to give you tools to build correct convictions and become stable in your thinking and view of others. Convictions take time to build and define They also need to be realigned, when they are man made and religious spirt. The early church has tremendous challenge with new believers coming into the church from all walks of life! They had to learn how to accept one another while retooling those who had little in the way of moral compass.
