HOW TO PERFORM A LAB
 
HOW TO PERFORM A LAP
 
1. The instructor will assign the lab or labs to be
performed.
We may work multiple labs at one time.

2. You will read the lab in its entirety
By doing this you will find out what materials and
tooling will be required.
If you find that you can not perform the lab as stated
in your lab book you will ask the instructor what
action to take.
This could take time due to your instructor assisting
other students.

3. If you need parts, equipment or tooling.
A. Go to the tool crib.
B. Ask the tool crib operator for the materials you
are requiring.
Be specific!!!!
Examples. “I need a bolt?”, 
WRONG!!! 
“I need AN4-11
bolt”, 
CORRECT!!!
. “I need a torque wrench”, 
WRONG!!!
 “I
need a ¼” drive torque wrench with a range of 50 to 75
inch pounds”, 
CORRECT!!!
Say “Thank you”

4. If you need assistance understanding the lab
you will ask your instructor, NOT ANOTHER
STUDENT!
Yes, once again wait for the instructor to help you.
A student is a person like yourself, how do you know
they are doing it right.
If you need assistance such as lifting something or
asking their opinion, Yes please ask your classmates.

5. If your lab has not turned out the way you were
hoping. You do not go and re-do it.
The school has only prepared enough materials for
these classes and if you keep doing it over and over
you are taking from the next class or even your own
class.
GO TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR FOR HELP.

6. At the end of every lab, you will fill out the lab
book stating exactly what you have done.
Examples: “Made cable”  
WRONG!!!! 
“Fabricated
cable I.A.W AC 43.13 1B  par 7-148  section C”,
CORRECT!!!
“ Saftied turnbuckle”  
WRONG!!!! 
“Saftied
Turnbuckle I.A.W AC 43.13 1B par 7-180”,
CORRECT!!!
 
Leaving early
 
If you must leave early?
1. Tell your instructor.
If you believe your instructor might forget that you
asked or does not know your name. Ask him or her to
mark it in on his or her rooster.
 
Leaving early
 
2. If your instructor takes attendance at the end of
class and you are not accounted for you will be
marked gone for the entire day and will make up the
time.
So, it would be better for you to verify that your
instructor has marked that you have gone for the day.

This is for your safety incase of an emergency.
 
Finally
 
 
1. Remember your instructors are dealing with
 
several students at one time.
 
2. Your problems are just as important as
 
other students problems.
