Performance Audit of Solid Waste Management: Challenges and Recommendations
In Jamaica, the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is facing issues with ineffective waste management, leading to environmental and public health concerns. Delays in garbage collection, non-compliance with regulations, and lack of strategic planning have impacted NSWMA's effectiveness. This audit highlights the need for better resource management, regulatory support, and infrastructure development to enhance solid waste management practices in line with Vision 2030 Jamaica National Development Plan.
