PA Dutch 101 Video 37 covers Command Forms in Pennsylvania Dutch. There are three command forms: Singular, Plural, and Lets. The choice of form depends on the number of people being addressed.   1. PA Dutch 101 Video 37: Command Forms. Command Forms.

  2. The Command Forms There are THREE Command Forms in PD. Determining which form to use depends on whom you are talking to: One person Multiple people Are you included (let s)

  3. Singular Command Form The Singular Form is used when you are telling ONE person to do something. Drop the E from the Infinitive. gehe Geh! (Go!) schtoppe Schtopp! (Stop!)

  4. Plural Command Form The Plural Form is used when you are telling More than ONE person to do something. Drop the E form the Infinitive. Add a T to the end of the verb. geh Geht! (Go!) kumme Kummt! (Come!) schtoppe Schtoppt! (Stop!)

  5. Lets Command The Let s Command Form is used when asking for some action in the sense of Let s (do something) Use the MIR form of the Verb. Add MIR directly following the Verb. geh Gehne mir! (Let s go!) singe Singe mir! (Let s sing!)

  6. Lets Command Form Some PD speaker also use the following construction when creating Let s Commands: Loss uns _____ (verb)! Loss uns geh! Let s go! Loss uns singe! Let s sing!

  7. Iewing - Practice Tell the following people to do what is given. Sam en Kuche kaafe Kaaf en Kuche! Paul and Joe net so laut schwetze Schwetzt net so laut! Sarah and Janelle es Bier drinke Drinkt es Bier!
