Overview of Strong Motion Networks K-NET and KiK-net in Japan
The Strong Motion Networks K-NET and KiK-net in Japan, managed by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, provide crucial data on ground motion during earthquakes. K-NET consists of surface stations in populated areas, while KiK-net comprises pairs of surface and borehole seismographs. The unified website offers real-time data, soil condition information, and downloadable earthquake data.

Unified Website of K-NET and KiK-net Respective Websites of K-NET and KiK-net closed, and a unified site opened on April 6, 2012. Unified Website provides Strong motion data (waveform and PGA list) of the earthquake during which the JMA seismic intensity of 2 or larger is registered Soil condition data down to 20 m depth for K-NET stations, and those to the depth of the borehole seismograph for KiK-net stations Realtime ground-motion monitor (Kyoshin monitor) 2
