New Road Patient Participation Group Presented by Diane Eaton
Update to our local health services Update to our local health services From the 1st July 2022, health and care services across England will be provided by Integrated Care Systems (ICSs). As part of this change, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) will no longer exist and were taken over by Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). On 1 July, the roles and responsibilities of Herts Valleys, East and North Herts and West Essex CCGs were taken over by the Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB. All GP Practices should have an established Patient Participation Group (PPG) as part of their contract. Primary Care Networks (PCN) are groups of GP Practices who have joined together. They provide an opportunity to revitalise and develop PPGs to become a more diverse, community based model which is aware of its purpose and intended outcomes. The Patients Association is working with the Herts and Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) to develop and support PPGs. Bespoke training will be offered to all PPG members so that they have the tools needed to minimise health inequalities, and highlight the importance of hearing from different parts of their community.
Patient Participation Group (PPG) overview Patient Participation Group (PPG) overview A PPG is a group of volunteer patients, carers and GP practice staff who meet to improve the quality of healthcare and respond to patient needs. All registered patients are eligible to participate. The surgery encourages people of all ages, gender, ethnicities and disabilities to join. The surgery is seeking to revitalise the PPG; to broaden patient engagement by seeking feedback on current services; respond to patient surveys and, garner support for the roll out of health incentives and information to improve health outcomes. By being as outward facing as possible, the PPG can learn about innovations which are happening in the community and bring these back to the practice.
