Statistical data related to Overburden removal, Coal Mining (OCM) is crucial for efficient management. Key metrics include HEMM availability, utilization, capacity utilization, specific diesel and POL consumption, burnt oil recovery, and monitoring of diesel consumption per hour in different equipment. Norms and factors are considered to optimize operations and ensure efficiency in the mining area.

  1. Monitoring of statistical data related to OCM By- Pradeep Kumar Chief Manager(Excv) Ghugus OCM, Wani Area

  2. Basically the following data related to OCM are maintained :- 1. HEMM Availability 2. HEMM Utilisation 3. Capacity Utilisation 4. Specific Diesel Consumption 5. Specific POL consumption 6. Burnt Oil Recovery 7. Monitoring of Diesel consumption per hour in different HEMMs

  3. HEMM availability HEMM availability = Working Hours + Idle Hours Shift Hours CMPDIL norms of availability for various HEMMs are:- 1. Dragline - 85% 2. Shovel( Diesel/Electric) - 80% 3. Dumpers 67% 4. Dozers - 70% 5. Drills - 78%

  4. HEMM Utilisation HEMM utilisation = Working Hour Shift Hours CMPDIL norms of utilisation for various HEMMs are:- 1. Dragline - 73% 2. Shovel (Diesel/ Electric)- 58% 3. Dumpers 50% 4. Dozers 45% 5. Drills - 40%

  5. Capacity utilisation Capacity utilisation = Coal/1.5 + OBR Mine capacity/12 Capacity of mine is in following parts- 1. 2. Loading capacity Transport capacity 3. Critical capacity- It is capacity which is less in loading or transport and that is mine capacity There should not be much mismatch in loading and transport capacity There is a system factor in the mine according to degree of difficulty of the mine. The Final loading capacity of mine is calculated by multiplying the loading capacity of mine with the system factor

  6. Specific Diesel Consumption Specific diesel consumption = Diesel consumed in the month Total CUM handled in the month The specific diesel consumption is decided by CMPDIL by studying the mine and is different for individual mines.

  7. Specific POL Consumption Specific POL consumption = POL consumed in the month Total CUM handled in the month The specific POL consumption should be approximately .041 Ltr/CUM

  8. Burnt Oil recovery Burnt oil recovery is the waste oil which is replaced during preventive maintenance. The recovery should be atleast 20-25% approx.

  9. Monitoring diesel consumption of various HEMM per hour The diesel consumption per hours of various Machines is generally provided by OEM after studying the performances or is studied by us by forming a committee and studying the consumption pattern. The monitoring of diesel consumption is needed to check the specific diesel consumption and to check for theft of diesel. The consumption pattern for various HEMM of GOC are:- 1. Hyd Excavator Tata Ex1200- 80-100 ltrs/hr 2. 60Te CAT Dumper 35-40 ltrs/hr 3. 50 Te BEML Dumper 30-35 ltrs/hr 4. BEML D155 Dozers - 30-35 ltrs/ hr 5. BEML D355 Dozers - 35-40 ltrs/ hr
