Monitoring Flu Activity with Flu Near You
Flu Near You (FNY) is a participatory disease surveillance system for influenza-like illness (ILI) that allows the public to report their health status weekly. Users can contribute data, view local/national ILI reports, access a Vaccine Finder tool, and connect with public health resources. Created by a collaboration including HealthMap at Boston Children's Hospital, American Public Health Association, Harvard University's Epidemiologists, and Skoll Global Threats Fund. Individuals 13 years and older in the US and Canada can participate by registering online, via mobile app, or Facebook. The platform helps in early detection of ILI and provides actionable insights to users and stakeholders.
