  1. F = MA PRACTICE

  2. PROBLEM #1 Your bicycle has a mass of 9.1 kilograms. You accelerate at a rate of 1.79 m/s2. Calculate the net force that is accelerating the bicycle. F = MA F = 9.1 kg x 1.79 m/s2 F = 16.3 N

  3. PROBLEM #2 The Space Shuttle has a force (thrust) of 32,656,000 Newtons and accelerates at a rate of 16 m/s2. Calculate the mass of the shuttle. M = F/A M = 32,656,000 N / 16 m/s2 M = 2,041,000 kg (4,490,200 lbs)

  4. PROBLEM #3 A runner has a mass of 89 kilograms. He produces a force of 84 Newtons between the ground and his running shoes. How fast does he accelerate? A = F/M A = 84 N / 89 kg A= 0.94 m/s2

  5. PROBLEM #4 Calculate the acceleration of a car if the force on the car is 450 Newtons and the mass is 1300 kilograms. A = F/M A = 450 N / 1300 kg A = 0.35 m/s2
