Articles: a, an, the are called articles. There are two kinds of articles. They are- 1. Indefinite articles: a, an 2. Definite article: the Indefinite Article: The article which denotes any noun indefinitely is called Indefinite Article. Example: a boy, a girl, an apple, an egg Definite Article: The article which denotes any noun definitely is called Definite Article. Example: The Daily Star, The sixth March, The Padma

Use of an a, e, i, o, u these letters are called vowel. If any word starts with vowel, we need to put an before that word. 1. an apple, an axe, an ant 2. an egg, an ear, an elephant 3. an ice cream, an igloo , an insect 4. an orange, an ox, an owl 5. an umbrella, an umpire, an uncle
We use an before consonant if the pronounce of the first letter h of a word is silent. Example: an hour, an heir, an honest, an honorable We use an before a vowel sound of abbreviation word. Example: an M. A., an S. P., an F. R. C. S., an L. L. B., an M. B. B. S.
