L/O - How do we find places on a map using grid references? Identify 6 figure grid references with help (level 4) Identify 6 figure grid references with some accuracy (level 5) Identify 6 figure grid references independently with accuracy (level 6) Six-figure grid references In your head, you should be able to divide all sides of the square into ten equal sections. By doing this, you can pinpoint locations within each grid square. X axis, y axis, coordinate, grid reference, along the corridor and up the stairs

Here is one square from a map. What do these OS symbols stand for? 26 25 77 78
The four-figure grid reference for this square is 7725. Why? 26 Lines meet at bottom left. 25 77 78
In order to give something a six-figure grid reference, imagine the larger square split into one hundred smaller squares. 26 25 77 78
