Sirens have a radius of approximately 1 mile (on a clear day) They are an older technology intended to alert people outdoors They are not designed to be heard indoors or to wake you up They are vulnerable to power failures and lightning strikes They are very expensive to replace/maintain Only used for Tornado Warnings We are able to reach a much larger population and provide them with more alerts, information But What About Sirens?
