MACHC MSI WG OVERVIEW Goals of the MACHC MSI WG Facilitate that the GMDSS MSI services in the NAVAREA are arranged in compliance with the regulations and recommendations of the IMO, IHO and other relevant organizations. Facilitate cooperation concerning technical and administrative matters related to the MSI service. Facilitate the exchange of information about events that could affect safety at sea within the NAVAREA. Facilitate the exchange of advice concerning all aspects of daily MSI work. Facilitate harmonization of new and existing methods that make MSI and other relevant information to shipping available. To evaluate and compile views on new and changed methods of providing MSI and to forward these to the relevant body. To exchange information about major planned operations at sea that are expected to affect international shipping in coastal waters of adjacent countries. Improve and develop capacity building. Meeting Notes and Outcomes One in Person Meeting prior to MACHC 24 in Suriname in Dec of 2023.   3. FUTURE MACHC INITIATIVES S-124 Development in the MACHC Region Start to determine which administrations in the region have the desire to produce S-124 data. Defining the current S-53 International Navigational Warning Service operating posture within the MACHC. Work with the MACHC S-100 coordinator to have a detailed plan of S-124 within the MACHC region. Capacity Building Due to the number of administrations within the MACHC there is a constant need for capacity building. Virtual Capacity building will be a regular topic for the Working Group and will include a refresher in MSI Basics, as taught in the MSI course. There is a potential to touch on more advanced MSI topics in the future. These virtual trainings are a way to reinforce the work done at the in-person courses. Future Meetings The MACHC MSI WG plans on three meetings per year. A VTC Meeting for updates in the latest in the work of the WWNWS-SC. A VTC Meeting for capacity building purposes. A in-person meeting prior to the plenary session of the MACHC to have an overview of the entire work of the MACHC MSI WG. Valparaiso, Chile 2 - 6 September 2024
