  1. Chapter 11: Lord Krsna's Entrance into Dvrak

  2. 1.11.1 s ta uv ca nart n sa upavrajya svr ddh jana-pad n svak n dadhmau daravaram tes m vis dam amayann iva S ta Gosv m said: Upon reaching the border of His most prosperous metropolis, known as the country of the nartas [Dv rak ], the Lord sounded His auspicious conchshell, heralding His arrival and apparently pacifying the dejection of the inhabitants.

  3. Following Seperation - meeting Hastinapur - Dwaraka Sages: Krsna Katha how to cultivate the feeelings of Seperation? Attachment to Krsna - Feelings of Seperation from Krsna Dwarakavasis: every moment they were expecting for arrival of Krsna More attachment - more a moment seem so long. Thrilled to hear the sound. Oh. Krsna has come. At last. Lets Run: hearts went first - legs came later. Spontaneous love: 1. Vidhi 2. later mind thinks to offer nice outfit etc., - spontaneous

  4. 1.11.2 sa uccak e dhavalodaro daro 'py urukramasy dhara on a- on im d dhm yam nah kara-ka ja-samput e yath bja-khan d e kala-ham sa utsvanah sah that; uccak e became brilliant; dhavala-udarah white and fat-boweled; darah conchshell; api although it is so; urukramasya of the great adventurer; adhara on a by the transcendental quality of His lips; on im reddened; d dhm yam nah being sounded; kara- ka ja-samput e being caught by the grip of the lotus hand; yath as it is; abja-khan d e by the stems of lotus flowers; kala-ham sah ducking swan; utsvanah loudly sounding. The white and fat-boweled conchshell, being gripped by the hand of Lord Kr s n a and sounded by Him, appeared to be reddened by the touch of His transcendental lips. It seemed that a white swan was playing in the stems of red lotus flowers.

  5. By ardent love and devotional service to the Lord, or in other words by spiritual contact with the Lord, everything becomes spiritually reddened like the conchshell in the grip of the Lord, and the paramaham sa, or the supremely intelligent person, plays the part of the ducking swan in the water of spiritual bliss, eternally decorated by the lotus flower of the Lord's feet. Spiritual contact - Matter acts spiritually Paramahamsa: in material world make Krsna manifest Yudishti speaks to Vidura - wherever you are it is a place of pilgrimage

  6. 1.11.3 tam upa rutya ninadam jagad-bhaya-bhay vaham pratyudyayuh praj h sarv bhartr -dar ana-l las h tam that; upa rutya having overheard; ninadam sound; jagat-bhaya the fear of material existence; bhaya- vaham the threatening principle; prati towards; udyayuh rapidly proceeded; praj h the citizens; sarv h all; bhartr the protector; dar ana audience; l las h having so desired. The citizens of Dv rak , having heard that sound which threatens fear personified in the material world, began to run towards Him fast, just to have a long desired audience with the Lord, who is the protector of all devotees.

  7. Mood Of Dwarakavasis: Always in thoughts of Krsna. Eagerly awaiting for Krsna. State of melancholy: (Krsna blows Conch Sunrise) Longing for the Lord Feeling for the Lord be consciously present with Krsna - As much as we try

  8. The material existence of our present status is full of fear. Out of the four problems of material existence, namely the food problem, the shelter problem, the fear problem and the mating problem, the fear problem gives us more trouble than the others. We are always fearful due to our ignorance of the next problem. The whole material existence is full of problems, and thus the fear problem is always prominent. This is due to our association with the illusory energy of the Lord, known as m y or external energy, yet all fear is vanished as soon as there is the sound of the Lord, represented by His holy name, as it was sounded by Lord r Caitanya Mah prabhu in the following sixteen words: Hare Kr s n a, Hare Kr s n a, Kr s n a Kr s n a, Hare Hare Hare R ma, Hare R ma, R ma R ma, Hare Hare We can take advantage of these sounds and be free from all threatening problems of material existence.

  9. 1.11.4-5 tatropan ta-balayo raver d pam iv dr t h tm r mam p rn a-k mam nija-l bhena nityad pr ty-utphulla-mukh h procur hars a-gadgaday gir pitaram sarva-suhr dam avit ram iv rbhak h The citizens arrived before the Lord with their respective presentations, offering them to the fully satisfied and self-sufficient one, who, by His own potency, incessantly supplies others. These presentations were like the offering of a lamp to the sun. Yet the citizens began to speak in ecstatic language to receive the Lord, just as wards welcome their guardian and father.

  10. Atmaramam: Self Sufficient Purna kamam: Fully Satisfied BG 3.22 : Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I a need to obtain anything tasmad ekena manasa bhagavan satvatam patih? srotavyah? kirtitavyas ca dhyeyah? pujyas ca nityada (SB 1.2.14 ) SP Quotes often : nityo nityanam Worship of the Sun: Satrajit story Worship of Durga: Dwarakavasis (Jambavan story)

  11. The Lord is the Supreme Father of all living beings, and therefore those who are conscious of this vital relation with God can make filial demands from the Father, and the Father is pleased to supply the demands of such obedient sons without bargaining. The Lord is just like the desire tree, and from Him everyone can have everything by the causeless mercy of the Lord. As the Supreme Father, the Lord, however, does not supply to a pure devotee what is considered to be a barrier to the discharge of devotional service. Those who are engaged in the devotional service of the Lord can rise to the position of unalloyed devotional service by His transcendental attraction. Bhakti Vinod Thakur s instruction: while chanting 1. absorb the mind in the meaning of the Manthra. Krsna pls accept me 2.absorb the heart in the meaning of the Manthra. Krsna pls accept me 3. Recognize Krsna is manifesting His mercy while chanting Vyasa deva has given Srimad Bhagavatam to attract our hearts to Krsna like the residents of Dwaraka

  12. 1.11.6 nat h sma te n tha sad ghri-pa kajam viri ca-vairi cya-surendra-vanditam par yan am ks emam ihecchat m param na yatra k lah prabhavet parah prabhuh The citizens said: O Lord, You are worshiped by all demigods like Brahm , the four Sanas and even the King of heaven. You are the ultimate rest for those who are really aspiring to achieve the highest benefit of life. You are the supreme transcendental Lord, and inevitable time cannot exert its influence upon You.

  13. what would a pure devotee say if he meets Krsna? Mood of Dwaraka: Understand Krsna as SPG. see Him in His Opulent Feature. - how fortunate we are!!!! welfare: short term / long term / ultimate long term want Krsna - person - relationship with you Time: makes things into being / out of being: Krsna is not influenced by time. yet Krsna is entering. Lord manifests out of His own will: Pariksit / Dhruva devotee: materially pessimistic : reflection of water on sand - illusion spiritually optimistic : may be far from the goal

  14. 1.11.7 bhav ya nas tvam bhava vi va-bh vana tvam eva m t tha suhr t-patih pit tvam sad-gurur nah paramam ca daivatam yasy nuvr tty kr tino babh vima O creator of the universe, You are our mother, well-wisher, Lord, father, spiritual master and worshipable Deity. By following in Your footsteps we have become successful in every respect. We pray, therefore, that You continue to bless us with Your mercy.

  15. The all-good Personality of Godhead, being the creator of the universe, also plans for the good of all good living beings. The good living beings are advised by the Lord to follow His good advice, and by doing so they become successful in all spheres of life. There is no need to worship any deity but the Lord. The Lord is all-powerful, and if He is satisfied by our obedience unto His lotus feet, He is competent to bestow upon us all kinds of blessings for the successful execution of both our material and spiritual lives. For attaining spiritual existence, the human form is a chance for all to understand our eternal relation with God. Our relation with Him is eternal; it can neither be broken nor vanquished. It may be forgotten for the time being, but it can be revived also by the grace of the Lord, if we follow His injunctions, which are revealed in the scriptures of all

  16. 1.1.8 aho san th bhavat sma yad vayam traivis t ap n m api d ra-dar anam prema-smita-snigdha-nir ks an nanam pa yema r pam tava sarva-saubhagam Oh, it is our good luck that we have come again today under Your protection by Your presence, for Your Lordship rarely visits even the denizens of heaven. Now it is possible for us to look into Your smiling face, which is full of affectionate glances. We can now see Your transcendental form, full of all auspiciousness.

  17. 1.Lord is not impersonal 2.Personal form could be seen only by pure devotees. 3.How rare it is to see Lord Krsna face to face 4. How fortunate are the residents of Dwaraka ladies of Hastinapur praising inhabitants of Dwaraka SB 1.10.27: Undoubtedly it is wonderful that Dvaraka has defeated the glories of the heavenly planets and has enhanced the celebrity of the earth. The inhabitants of Dvaraka are always seeing the soul of all living beings Krsna in His loving feature. He glances at them and favors them with sweet smiles. Krsna's smile is not ordinary: cupid story yad yad vibhutimat sattvam srimad urjitam eva va tat tad evavagaccha tvam mama tejo-'m sa-sambhavam (BG 10.41) Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor.

  18. Just by hearing Krsna's flute Gopis forced to go to forest Yamuna stopped flowing Brahma got Brahma Gayatri Manthra Birds stopped flying Galnce is not ordinary: Krsna impregnates the whole universe by His glance. last line: This is the original state of the living entities and can be attained by reviving our natural and constitutional state of life, which is discovered by devotional service only. hearing: Ladies of Hastinapur - not seen Krsna before quality of hearing - most mercifully present in chanting - we are not attentive - Krsna is coming - we are out to lunch. Text 5 purport last line: Those who are engaged in the devotional service of the Lord can rise to the position of unalloyed devotional service by His transcendental attraction.

  19. 1.11.9 yarhy ambuj ks pasas ra bho bhav n kur n madh n v tha suhr d-didr ks ay tatr bda-kot i-pratimah ks an o bhaved ravim vin ks n or iva nas tav cyuta O lotus-eyed Lord, whenever You go away to Mathur , Vr nd vana or Hastin pura to meet Your friends and relatives, every moment of Your absence seems like a million years. O infallible one, at that time our eyes become useless, as if bereft of sun.

  20. theme : exchange of emotions SP: how can you have emotions if you do not see Krsna Therefore, it is necessary that we must always be in the sight of Lord Krsna so that we can see both ourselves and the Lord with His different energies As we cannot see anything in the absence of the sun, so also we cannot see anything including our own self, without the factual presence of the Lord. Without Him all our knowledge is covered by illusion. Dasaratha s feeling of seperation: Ramam me anugatha drstir adyapi na nivartate natvam pasyami kausalye sadumam panina sprsha samipasya raja simhasya ramasya vijithathmana sankalpa haya samyuktair yantim eva manorathaihi with the determination as the horses and desire as the charrioit , Sita travelled towards the Lion like prince Rama.

  21. 1.11.10 katham vayam n tha ciros ite tvayi prasanna-dr s t y khila-t pa- os an am j vema te sundara-h sa- obhitam apa yam n vadanam manoharam iti cod rit v cah praj n m bhakta-vatsalah r n v no 'nugraham dr s t y vitanvan pr vi at puram O master, if You live abroad all the time, then we cannot look at Your attractive face, whose smiles vanquish all our sufferings. How can we exist without Your presence?Upon hearing their speeches, the Lord, who is very kind to the citizens and the devotees, entered the city of Dv rak and acknowledged all their greetings by casting His transcendental glance over them.

  22. Similarly, the living entities, who are molecular parts of the whole spirit, are separated from the Lord by the artificial covering of m y , illusory energy. This illusory energy, or the curtain of m y , has to be removed, and when it is so done, the living entity can see the Lord face to face, and all his miseries are at once removed. Every one of us wants to remove the miseries of life, but we do not know how to do it. The solution is given here, and it rests on us to assimilate it or not. No Demands on either side (Krnsa & devotee): It seems there are . Prabhupada has given us Personality of Godhead As much as we can recognize that good fortune, when feelings of gratitude are there in recognition for the valuable jewel we have been given, that stirs our spiritual emotions it stirs deeper sense of transcendental emotions so that as we take up the process we are feeling something than just completing our duty.
