Universal Screening Team Our Universal Screening Team is based at the Waldron Health Centre; What We do: NCMP In the Autumn/Winter term our School Health Service Universal and Screening team will visit schools to complete the National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP) measurements for children in reception classes and year 6 classes. Vision and Hearing In the Spring/Summer term our School Health Service Universal and Screening team will visit schools will be visiting schools to complete Reception health screening. This includes vision and hearing screening for reception classes and new entrants to the schools. Health Conditions Training The Team (Nurses mainly) may be able to offer staff medical needs training e.g., anaphylaxis training , Asthma, Epilepsy etc to school staff. .
Universal Screening Team School Entry Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire The School Nursing Service use Thompson school screener to complete an online School Entry Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire for reception and new entrance to schools. A separate email will be sent to all schools and parents with information about the online School Entry Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire. After the School Entry Health and Wellbeing Questionnaire has been completed school nurse will contact parents to offer a health needs assessment and to complete a care plan if required. Schools and parents will be sent a separate email with information about this. Parents are emailed a link via your parent mail, and they complete this at home, at their convenience.
The Henry Programme CYP Healthy Weight Management Programme A free whole-family approach weight management programme for children aged 5-12 and their families across Lewisham, which will help families adopt long-term healthy behaviours and reduce or maintain a healthy weight. (For more information see attached leaflet). All children identified through National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) as being on or over the 91st centile for BMI in Reception, and above the 98th centile for BMI in Year 6, will be put on a waiting list for Henry Programme and will be contacted by a member of the team.
School Health Safeguarding & Vulnerable Children s Team Work with school aged children (5-19yrs) attending schools in Lewisham and children living in Lewisham who are not currently attending school or elective home educated. We work closely with other key agencies including schools, health and social care professionals, and parents / carers to safeguard and ensure that health and wellbeing needs of children and young people are met. What we do We see children and young people in their schools, at home, clinic settings and in the community. We liaise with and make referrals to other professionals as indicated from Health Needs Assessment. We share information with and request for information from other appropriate agencies to safeguard children and young people. We attend safeguarding meetings and contribute to statutory safeguarding processes.
SHS Safeguarding Team We Offer Health Needs Assessments to identify unmet health needs and provide support in areas such as; Oral Hygiene Healthy Diet & lifestyles Emotional wellbeing Toileting Sleep Puberty and growing up Healthy relationships and Sexual Health Staying safe
School Age Immunisation Team Our School Age Immunisation Team delivers national routine immunisation programmes for school age across Lewisham schools and in community settings. Schools and parents will be sent separate emails with information about immunisations. What type of vaccines are being offered: School-aged children s Seasonal Influenza vaccinations Diphtheria, Tetanus and Poliomyelitis (Td/IPV) booster Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) conjugate vaccine Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) catch up vaccinations. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination Polio and MMR vaccination catch up for children who are non-vaccinated or for those who are partial vaccinated
