  3. Matthew 19:45 He answered, Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh ? ESV

  20. 1. Dealing with Criticism (Judges 8:1-3)

  21. Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. ESV

  22. Proverbs 16:32 Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. ESV

  23. Are we tempted to conquer a city? Is it worth it? Is the cost, the fallout worth it? The shame? What would Jesus do?

  24. Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out. ESV

  25. Mighty men and women are those who rule over their spirits and are not ruled by their spirits.

  26. 2. To do Nothing is to Serve the Enemy (Judges 8:4-17)

  27. Hospitality is a Biblical law that demands one meet the needs of strangers and relatives.

  28. 1 Peter 4:9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. ESV

  29. Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. ESV

  30. Romans 12:13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. ESV

  31. Helping a stranger or a brother is helping the Lord Jesus.

  32. Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. ESV

  33. To not be hospitaible is to invite the discipline and correction of the LORD.

  34. It is one of the marks of a disciple of the LORD Jesus; walking in His ways and will, modeling love practically.

  35. Sin of Omission - failing to do what is right or failing to do as instructed by God.

  36. 3. Watch out for Flattery! (Judges 8:18- 21)

  37. Flattery is praising another for the purpose of gaining favor or influence.

  38. How do we live with honor in our lives today?

  39. 4. Worship no other King (Judges 8:22- 32)

  40. Honor is esteem due, reverence, veneration, exalted in rank or place, distinction, giving dignity.

  41. Do we give dignity to God and His commands? His ways? His creation?
