  1. The Prohibiting Madani Surah 12 Verses SURAH AT TAHRIM

CAUSE OF REVELATION The Prophet Muhammad (May Allah s peace and blessings be upon him) would daily visit each one of his wives after asr salah One he visited Zainab (ra) and a spent a little while longer with her and had some honey offered by her Aisha (ra) says: I developed some envy and in consultation with Hafsah (ra) decided that when Prophet Muhammad (May Allah s peace and blessings be upon him) would come to one of us, we will say to him You have had Maghafar (A herb like gum with a bad smell They executed their plan Prophet Muhammad (May Allah s peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have not had Maghafar but only had some honey

  3. She said: It is possible that the honey bee might have sat in the Maghafir shrub and drank its nectar. The Prophet Muhammad (May Allah s peace and blessings be upon him) disliked unpleasant odours and promised an oath not to take honey anymore! He did not want to hurt Zainab (ra) feelings so told the wife that the incident should be kept secret and not to be told to anyone else. But she told another wife. Then these verses were revealed telling the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah s peace and blessings be upon him) not to make the lawful, unlawful on himself! Verse 2 The oath was broken

  4. VERSE 3 AND 4 If something is kept secret, do not disclose it We do not know which wife disclosed and which one had the secret?

VERSE 8 SINCERE, FAITHFUL REPENTANCE To carry out the duties that were missed To restore rights that were not fulfilled To regret past sins To buzy yourself in the obedience of Allah for the same time you busied yourself in the disobedience of Allah To ask for forgiveness to the person who was wronged To make a firm resolve never to do that sin

  6. VERSE 10 - THE EXAMPLE OF FOUR WOMEN Believing women reached spiritual perfection Wife of Pharon Asiya (as) Mother of Esa - Maryam (as) Disbelieving women Wife of Lut Waghilah Wife of Nuh Waliha

  7. WHAT DO WE LEARN ABOUT THESE EXAMPLES OF FOUR WOMEN? That companionship does not get you Jannah Relation to someone pious does not make you pious Every person should be concerned for themselves

VERSE 11 - WHAT HAPPENED TO ASIYA (AS) When Pharon found out about her emaan He ordered for her to be punished severely Her hands and feet were pegged with nails Huge rock was placed on her chest It was suggested that a huge rock be dropped on her They had just dropped the rock She said these words Allah showed her, house in Jannah whilst looking at this vision her soul departed Then the rock fell on her lifeless body
