Introduction What Return to Bethel means: It means a return to obedience and God s pronouncement of blessing on Jacob and his generation Return to God, who is our refuge in time of need, and it is crucial to maintain a close relationship with Him Return to God s covenant and relationship with God Today s Lesson highlights: The Importance of having and cultivating a relationship with Go That though God had answered the prayer of Jacob when he was fleeing from Esau, he seems to have forgotten his own side of the covenant Ways to be led by God: Through his word, vision, dreams, by praying, through his servants (parents, pastors)

Jacob had first encounter with God at Luz (Bethel). At Bethel, he promised the Lord that if He will be with him, bless and keep him, then the Lord God Almighty will: Be his God He will build God a house He will give God the tenth of all his blessings 2. Contrary to his promise, Jacob settled at Shechem instead of Bethel Sometimes, like Jacob, youths forget to keep the promise they made to God in difficult times, but God never forgets. When we find ourselves outside of God s will, we should retrace our steps back to God, just like Jacob s family. 3. GRIEFS, CONFLICTS AND DEATH OF RACHEL Genesis 35:16-29; 49:1-4; Exodus 20:14; Hebrews 13:4; Leviticus 18:6,8 Watch what comes out of your mouth when things are not going according to expectation or when you grieve. Jacob lost his wife Rachel during childbirth. Rachel named the child Benoni (Meaning: the child of my pain). Jacob s decision to rename his son Benjamin (Meaning: the right hand is the seat of power) is profound. As youths, we are to trust God for our preservation and protection here on earth and in eternity with God God kept Isaac, Jacob s father, beyond his expectations. He saw his grandchildren, the apparent heirs of the blessing pronounced on their father, Jacob. God keeps his promises and is capable of preserving our lives.

God-fearing youths should not allow the devil to use anyone to make them go into an unholy alliance with the ungodly. iii. Your choice of who you marrGod sy or your choice of friends has an influence on your future and your generation We must pray and seek face in marriage and choice of friends Polygamy One man, one wife is God s standard for marriage I. Here are some consequences of polygamy : II. conflicts, jealousy, bitter rivalry, incest, partiality, hatred and other evils. Balancing Spirituality and Prosperity Youths must not pursue earthly prosperity without spiritual riches. I. A complete youth must both be spiritually sound and earthly relevant II.
