Unit 5 JAC, JECT - To throw, hurl Latin JACERE, JECTUM 1. Adjacent adj. Next to; nearby Syn: Neighboring L. ad, "towards," + jacere= Thrown towards Ant: Distant Do you know the names of the states that are adjacent to your home state? 2. Subject v. To cause to undergo or experience Syn: Expose L. sub, "beneath," +jectum= Thrown beneath Ant: Protect Protesters were angry that the animal was subjected to cruelty. 3. Projectile n.
