DECISION TO BECOME A NURSE Vocational tests in high school said I should be a nurse Bodily fluids did not sound appealing to me Become a mental health counselor Nurses I worked with convinced me I should try nursing Enrolled in classes and knew I found my calling on day 1
EDUCATIONAL PATH -BS IN SOCIOLOGY WITH A MINOR IN PSYCHOLOGY AND BUSINESS -BSN
CAREER PATH Mental Health Counselor for inpatient psychiatric hospital Patient Care Technician Registered Nurse on a 42-bed medical-surgical unit Registered Nurse at OSU including oncology, cardiac, medical, surgical, progressive care, neurology, emergency room, and inpatient and outpatient float pool Preceptor Charge Nurse
ACCOMPLISHMENTS Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse Certified Oncology Nurse Poster Presentation at ONS Congress in 2017 for Moral Distress Journal Club Poster Presentation at OSU Nursing Excellence Fair for Mentorship Development Program Developed a Preceptor Guideline for the OSU PCU Float Pool Member of the Magnet Committee and Research, EBP, and Innovation Council at OSUWMC
LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. Determine the effectiveness of various types of assessment and evaluation tools. 2. Develop increased confidence in decision- making regarding appropriate assessment tools. 3. Apply concepts to develop a grading rubric.
