"In-depth exploration of atomic and molecular processes in attached/detached plasmas, focusing on ro-vibrational states of H2 and isotopes. The goal is to determine distribution and densities, crucial for SOL modeling and power flux mitigation. Includes discussions on measurement techniques, reaction rates, and implications for plasma physics."

  1. Kick-off meeting SP X1 Atomic and molecular processes in attached/detached plasma Hennie van der Meiden

  2. SP X.1: Introduction and anouncements Linear machines operational Announcement: There will an in-person meeting (tentatively 3 days) that will take place at the VTT premises (Espoo, Finland) in the 2nd week of April (week starting in the 8th of April); it is still under discussion if we start already on Monday or a bit later in the week. Ru s will have a platform to show there work carried out, or present their plans for 2024: - SP X1 max 2 RU s can give a presentation - SP X2 max 2 RU s can give a presentation See also the mail from my side (07-02-2024)

  3. SP X.1: Atomic and molecular processes in attached/detached plasmas Ultimate goal: Determination of distribution of ro-vibrationally excited states of H2 and its isotopes Main goal of this meeting: Status and if required synchronization of the work to be done Identify possible issues that can cause delays

  4. SP X.1: Deliverables 2024 Deliverable ID D001 Deliverable Title Atomic density (TALIF) measured in MAGNUM-PSI and CARS installed in MAGNUM-PSI or UPP. VUV OES results H/H2 and ne/Te measurements in UPP and/or Magnum-PSI (DIFFER) OES results H/H2, ne, Te and 2D distribution in JULE-PSI . VIS molecular and atomic spectroscopy in PSI-2 under ionising and recombining plamas (FZJ) VUV OES hydrogen atom and molecule analysis of MAGNUM-PSI/UPP s H/H2 (CU) Interpretation spectroscopy results using spectra simulation and (CR) modelling with YACORA (MPG) D002 D003 D004

  5. SPARE FOR SP X1

  6. SP X.1: Atomic and molecular processes in attached/detached plasmas and sheath effects Motivation Measurement of ro-vibrational distribution and of atomic densities of ground state hydrogen and isotopes. Why?....an example MAR is beneficial for mitigation of plasma power flux/momentum in SOL, but understanding of formation is required. distribution not known Reaction rates vary orders of magnitude with ro-vib. Ro-vib H2(v,r) + H+ v=4~1.8eV 13.6 eV H2+ + H(1s) v=0~15.4eV 0 eV ~13.6 eV Reaction rates H and isotopes can differ a lot! Input required for SOL modeling!
