  4. Youth Programs What we do at JD JDYAA and Bulldog East Programs start from the bottom up Fortunate to have strong lacrosse history at JD Educate your youth coaching staff Have good people with your beliefs and philosophies Don t encourage winning at these levels, encourage skill development Youth camps Stay involved but also keep your distance let them know you are available Coach the mass not the just the best players pays off in the end Modified program multiple teams split evenly

  5. Philosophy-Play Fast-Smart Lots of broken situational drills 2 v 1, 3 v 2, 4 v 3, 5 v 4, build up drill Full field fast breaks with a jumper Full field build up drill 5 v 4 s Numbers drill Allow them to make mistakes without repercussions This will build confidence where kids will play free without worrying about making mistakes We feel this builds IQ Evaluate offensive spacing and going to ball, defensive spacing and communication

  6. Developing our players 1 v 1 s, realistic development, game like situation The more threats you have the more mismatches you can exploit (starts at youth, don t go through best players all the time encourage ball movement) 2 v 2 s, and ultimately 4 v 4 s Game like 6 v 6 with face-offs 12 minute quarters Keep everything competitive Whether that means keeping score or just competitive between the players We run formations not a lot of plays but also have a couple of go to plays in a pinch to go to (get good at them) Create mismatches

  7. Learning the Game Creating double teams Off ball responsibilities Creating straight line with defender Always creating 2 on 1 s, once the Defense is rotating everyone has a 2 on 1, learn to find it See a couple of passes ahead Create space so you don t lose your 2 on 1 Know your strengths and contribute that part to the game Constant movement, if you are in a spot for more than a couple seconds make defense always worry about you not ball carrier Outlet all GB s, this is number 1 offense
