  1. Jinn and Supernatural MLK Muslim Students Association

  2. What are Jinns? They are a creature of Allah according to the Qur an They have the ability to become invisible They have their own society, government, and way of life. Jinn derives from the Arabic word janna which means to hide or conceal. They were created before mankind.

  3. Are they like humans? In a sense, yes, they all have to stand before God in the Day of Resurrection. They have a soul, like us, in which counts for the good and bad they have done.

  4. Can we see them? No. But they can take up a human/animal form. "Verily, he and Qabeeluhu (his soldiers from the jinn or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them." [al-A'raaf 7:27]

  5. Why were they created? To worship Allah The first jinn was Iblis (head shaytan [satan]) when he refused to bow down to Adam. They can be good or bad

  6. Can they hurt me?! They can posses you They can affect your thinking They can affect the subconscious side of your mind

  7. Jinn Hotspots (few examples) They live everywhere, but mostly impure places. Bathrooms Graveyards Under trees at night (after Magrib)

  8. Side effects: Talking to yourself Major headaches Difficulty breathing Mood swings Isolation in one self Seeing scary images

  9. What can you do to protect yourself? Dhikr (read everything you know) Worship Read Qur an

  10. AyatulKursi This ayat is very helpful 'Allahu laaa 'ilaaha 'illaa Huu. 'Al-Hayyul-Qayyuum. Laa ta'-khuzuhuu sinatunw-wa laa nawm. Lahuu maa fissamaawaati wa ma fil-'arz. Man- zallazii yashfa-'u'indahuuu 'illaa bi-'iznih? Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.

  11. Is Shaiytana jinn? In the Qur an is describes him as: And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam." And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah). S. 2:34 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. S. 15:28-31 And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves to Adam." They prostrated (all) except Iblis (Satan), who refused. S. 20:116 (Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay". So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him." So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them: Except Iblis (Satan) he was proud and was one of the disbelievers. S. 38:71-74

  12. Although And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong- doers, etc). S. 18:50

  13. We can conclude that: Satan is an angel and therefore not a jinn. Or he is a jinn and therefore not an angel, which makes Allah unjust for blaming him for not obeying a command given to the angels and not to the jinn. Or the jinn are angels which introduces another contradiction as we will demonstrate shortly.
