Jesus Gets Us:
THE BIRTH
A young girl had a boyfriend. She got
pregnant. she was scared. How could she
face her parents? What would they say? She
can’t hide something like that forever. Her
parents asked who her father was. They
assumed her boyfriend, but…the baby
wasn’t his. He loved her so much that he
offered to help raise the child with her. They
married and found a small place. They had
very little money and no insurance. One
evening her water broke. There wasn’t time
to get help. He delivered the child, and lay
him in a manger.

Jesus was born to a teen mom – He gets us
Jesus Gets Us:
He let his hair
down too…
Jesus was no stranger to joy. He
went to weddings. He shared
lively meals with his friends. He
drank with them. He had so
much fun and acted so freely
around the dinner table that the
uptight religious leaders called
him a glutton and a drunkard.
Jesus was joyful. But what does
that mean?

He wants all to have his joy
Jesus Gets Us:
The Rebel
A rebel took to the streets. He
recruited others to join him.
They roamed the hood and
challenged authority.
Community leaders feared
them. Religious leaders
abhorred them. ‘We have to
get them off the streets,’ they
said. But they were not part
of a gang spreading hate and
terror… they were spreading
love

Jesus was wrongly judged
Making Jesus relevant…

He “drank” -what attention are you capturing?

He took to the streets… Rebel? (Lk. 7)

Jesus identifies with humanity through sharing in flesh and blood, his virgin birth, being the Savior, Immanuel - God with us, conquering death, and serving as a faithful High Priest. He exemplifies love, joy, and rebellion in a misunderstood light, making him relevant and relatable even in contemporary contexts.
