I have truly been inspired and you should all want to attend this conference next year for the following reasons: All inclusive Hotel in Marathon Lovely Enjoying the week with other Physics teachers from around the world stimulating conversation during lunch and dinner. Day trips to the Poseidon Temple and the Parthenon including scenic dinners in restaurants.
How do I love QUARKNET, let me count the ways: Summers with Kevin Martz, Jeremy Smith, Jordan Goodman, Kara Hoffman, Bruce Barnet, and Morris Swartz. Brookhaven for two weeks with students Fermi Lab for a weekend Berkley for a weekend, Particle Data Group Anniversary CERN for 8 weeks Greece Yesterday we may well have heard about a future noble prize from the recipient, that was hot!
Rosa Duran Provocative Astronomer Inspiring Students - In a platform near you!! Handling data and contributing to real research experiences Sharing great resources Quick reaction to important news Creating Opportunities
Journeys In Science - Marge Bardeen Marge explained the QUARKNET program goals to our international colleagues. Funded through a grant proposed due to the cancelation of the Super collider project in Texas. Later in the week we toasted the cancelation of the project We did the activity where you use post it notes to represent the bumps in mass data.
Geospatial Intelligence - the most useful area of intelligence that you can develop in your students?
James Bardeen Presents John Bardeen the only person to win two Nobel prizes in Physics I felt a little bad for him during this presentation because it was after three hours in the evening of the Sunday that we arrived. I found the intimate nature of his comments to be quite compelling. I am envious that I could not attend a barbeque at his house.
